About The Position

The purpose of the Fire and EMS Lab Instructor Basic Life Support position is to instruct and guide fire and emergency medical services Basic Life Support ( BLS ) students and firefighter students through the psychomotor skills introduction, acquisition, reinforcement, mastery, and evaluation stages in fire and emergency medical services education programs; provide simulation activities, tutoring, and remedial assistance to students, provide feedback to program faculty regarding skill acquisition and mastery, as well as to provide instructional resources required to meet state-mandated instructor-to-student ratios for fire and EMS program lab/practical skills and simulation. The Fire and EMS Lab Instructor Basic Life Support is also responsible for maintaining, inventorying, and replacing/resetting assigned equipment and lab/classroom spaces; the Fire and EMS Lab Instructor Basic Life Support, as designated by the department/program head/chair, may serve as a lead lab instructor/mentor to help guide and orient new lab instructors to the College, division and department/programs, policies, procedures, and expectations and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Fire and emergency medical services education experience
  • Ability to instruct and guide students through psychomotor skills
  • Ability to provide simulation activities, tutoring, and remedial assistance
  • Ability to provide feedback to program faculty
  • Ability to maintain, inventory, and replace/reset equipment and lab/classroom spaces

  • Experience as a lead lab instructor/mentor

Responsibilities
