About The Position

Lead and oversee all fire department operations at NASA’s Stennis Space Center as the Fire Chief. In this high-impact role, you’ll drive performance, ensure contract compliance, and set the standard for leadership, accountability, and team excellence. You’ll establish policies, guide and develop staff, and foster a strong, cohesive culture while ensuring mission readiness and operational success across the department.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of fire operations/management experience, with at least 2 years as a Deputy Fire Chief (DoD, State, or Pro Board).
• Firefighter II, Fire Officer IV, Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor II certifications.
• Technical Rescue Awareness, HazMat Operations, or Executive Fire Officer designation.
• NIMS ICS 100–800.
• Emergency Vehicle Operator certification.
• Valid Mississippi driver’s license.
• Site-specific security, medical, and operational clearances.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and operational guidance in English.
• No disqualifying criminal or drug history.
• Compliance with drug-free workplace requirements.
• Maintain NASA physical and psychological fitness standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee fire department operations at Stennis Space Center, ensuring protection of life and property while directing all emergency and routine response activities.
• Serve as the senior liaison with NASA, contractors, and the Contract Manager, ensuring alignment, coordination, and successful contract execution.
• Develop, implement, and enforce departmental programs, policies, and standard operating procedures to maintain peak readiness and performance.
• Supervise and develop personnel by assigning work, setting expectations, monitoring performance, and evaluating team effectiveness.
• Manage departmental planning and administration, including budgets, reporting, and continuous communication across leadership and operational teams.
• Other duties as assigned.
