Under close supervision, performs a variety of support functions in the day-to-day operations of the Fire Department while preparing to become a Firefighter candidate. Assists and supports any division of the Department, including but not limited to, Administration, Fire Marshal's Office, and the Fire Academy. Maintains Fire Department facilities and grounds. Delivers equipment and assists with special events and community functions; picks up and delivers supplies and runs departmental errands. Assists Training Division personnel with rehabilitation efforts and incident support; assists Special Services Unit personnel with relocation of fire victims. Assists with training classes and drills; prepares visual aids; assists or prepares power point presentations, video and audio productions; videotapes fire classes and other training; and assists with public education presentations. Performs data entry into computer terminal and verifies accuracy of input; operates a variety of office equipment; updates and maintains files; operates a two-way radio; and answers phones and greets the public. This class is designed to develop future firefighter candidates. This is a part-time, non-union position and incumbents work a maximum of twenty-eight (28) hours per week.
