About The Position

Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers, Inc. is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Technician for its Raleigh branch. This role involves leading the installation and service of fire alarm systems in commercial and multi-family settings. The technician will perform installation and service work, supervise apprentices, and ensure all tasks are completed in a timely, accurate, and safe manner, adhering to relevant codes and WAFS standards. The position reports directly to the superintendent/manager.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of knowledge and hands-on experience in installing fire alarm systems, reading blueprints, and conducting system testing.
  • Proficient in using computer software, including company-specific programs.
  • Strong leadership abilities and experience supervising apprentices.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to engage with others professionally and collaboratively.
  • Capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to wear required protective equipment and adhere to safety guidelines on job sites.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record (a company vehicle will be provided).
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test, background check, and 10-year employment verification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the installation of alarm systems, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to required standards.
  • Oversee the layout, and installation of fire alarm system panels, wiring, and related equipment, applying knowledge of fire alarm system operations and interpreting blueprints and installation instructions.
  • Complete work orders, which may include pulling wire overhead, carrying materials, ladders, and other items (up to 50 lbs.), including up and down stairs.
  • Perform maintenance and replacement work on system components, such as alarm devices, panels, power supplies, flow switches, tamper switches, etc.
  • Proactively notify management of any issues, concerns, or changes on the job site.
  • Address employee performance or behavior issues in collaboration with management.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with general contractors to ensure project goals are met and expectations exceeded.
  • Accurately complete and submit all necessary reports, including time sheets, accident reports, and production documentation, on time.
  • Ensure compliance with all work and safety rules and enforce proper safety protocols on the job site.
  • Responsible for the care, maintenance, and safekeeping of assigned tools and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area, including the company vehicle.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the commercial superintendent/manager.
