About The Position

Siemens is seeking a Fire Alarm Systems Service Technician to ensure the safety and efficiency of their Smart Buildings. This field-based role involves the service and maintenance of commercial fire alarm systems, including inspection, testing, operation, and maintenance according to customer requirements. The technician will also act as a mentor, providing on-the-job training to less experienced team members and serving as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring their buildings and occupants remain safe. This position is crucial for maintaining system functionality and upholding code compliance.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in the installation and/or maintenance of commercial fire alarm systems.
  • Ability to differentiate types/colors of wire, use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet.
  • Ability to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted.
  • NICET II Fire Alarm Certification.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license with limited violations.
  • Meet eligibility requirements to participate in Siemens' fleet vehicle program.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining both fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems within commercial or industrial facilities.
  • Ability to read/understand design and construction documents.
  • NICET II inspection and testing of water-based systems.
  • Associate degree in electronics or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Execute comprehensive testing and inspections for systems under maintenance agreements.
  • Create detailed test and inspection reports based on code requirements and customer needs.
  • Respond to, troubleshoot, and complete necessary repairs to maintain system functionality.
  • Report on activities completed, deferred, or requiring further action or material.
  • Identify code and non-conformance issues, ensuring adherence to required standards.
  • Quote small repair jobs and provide detailed parts and labor requirements to estimators and sales for large repair projects.
  • Plan work with mentor, Lead Technicians, and Supervisors to strategize tasks effectively.
  • Provide on-the-job training to less experienced technicians.
