About The Position

Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization, is seeking a Fire Alarm System Programmer. This role involves the remote programming of Fire Alarm Systems, requiring collaboration with local offices, design teams, and the remote programming team. The programmer will interpret construction documents, apply NFPA standards, and ensure accurate system programming based on building specifications. Requirements

  • An Experienced Simplex Fire Alarm System Technician/Programmer.
  • Motivated, self-starter who has the ability to work from home.
  • Minimum 10+ years Simplex Fire Alarm Technician/Programming Experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Excel, and Simplex programmers.
  • Proficient in interpreting and applying applicable NFPA standards.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction documents.

Nice To Haves

  • NICET Level II or III certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in the Remote Programming of Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Contact Local Offices to obtain necessary files for building a complete Simplex Fire Alarm System Program.
  • Collaborate with the Design Team to acquire .csv files and the latest submitted and approved drawings for program development.
  • Read and interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Interpret and apply applicable NFPA standards to build a complete Fire Alarm System Program based on building type, construction type, hazard classification, and architectural features.
  • Work closely with district contracting teams to understand customer contracts, scheduling, and installation crew delivery needs.
  • Collaborate with the Remote Programming Team in a Microsoft Teams Virtual Environment to share standard processes.
  • Attend weekly Microsoft Teams meetings to discuss backlog and urgent projects.
  • Upload completed projects to SharePoint and provide links to Local Offices for downloading to the Fire Alarm Panel.
  • Be available to assist Local Technicians with any programming-related issues when the program is uploaded.
  • Promote the Team and develop working relationships with Local Offices.
