Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Fire Alarm Technician to join our amazing culture. In this role, you will install, program, perform system start-up/check-out, testing/commissioning, customer training, and all associated documentation on assigned projects, including more complex ones. Requirements

  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
  • Ability to convey complex subject matter to a non-technical audience.
  • Willingness to learn technical skills and/or experience related to fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work well with little supervision.
  • Understanding of electronics to include Ohm’s law, resistor color code, and relay logic for control of third-party equipment.
  • Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g., works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper).
  • Experience programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning Edwards or equivalent fire alarm systems of small to medium complexity.
  • Must be driven to achieve necessary certifications/licensing related to products, industry, and city/state.
  • Willingness to coach and mentor less experienced colleagues.
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Possess NICET Level II in Fire Alarm.
  • Possess low voltage electrical license as required by local/state.
  • Ability to travel locally to jobsites on a regular basis.
  • Minimal overnight travel may be required.
  • Education: High School/GED or equivalent experience.
  • Licenses & Certifications: Local/State Electrical License, NICET Level II – Fire Alarm Systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Electronics or related field including equivalent military experience.
  • 3-5 years relevant field service experience.
  • EST3 & 4 Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, programs, tests, repairs, and services a variety of systems and equipment which may include security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation with guidance.
  • Acts as the primary interface for the provision of technical support and training for the customer, and is accountable for maximizing customer satisfaction.
  • Refers more complex issues to higher-level colleagues.
  • Works with Fire Alarm Designer to ensure fire alarm system meets all relevant codes and standards.
  • Works closely with the Project Manager and/or Operations Manager and assists in the overall coordination of specific projects.
  • Makes recommendations regarding quality of work and potential changes in scope.
  • Identifies ways to continuously improve customer experience.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested.
