Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Fire Alarm Technician to join our amazing culture. Requirements

Ability to convey complex subject matter to a non-technical audience.
Willingness to learn technical skills and/or experience related to fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
Ability to be a self-starter and work well with little supervision.
Understanding of electronics to include Ohm’s law, resistor color code, and relay logic for control of third-party equipment.
Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g., works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper).
Experience programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning Edwards or equivalent fire alarm systems of small to medium complexity.
Driven to achieve necessary certifications/licensing related to products, industry, and city/state.
Willingness to coach and mentor less experienced colleagues.
A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Possess NICET Level II in Fire Alarm Systems.
Possess low voltage electrical license as required by local/state authority.
Ability to travel locally to jobsites on a regular basis.
Minimal overnight travel may be required.
Education: High School/GED or equivalent experience.
Required Experience, Licenses & Certifications: 3+ years' experience programming enterprise-level fire alarm systems.
Local/State Electrical License.
NICET Level I – Fire Alarm Systems.
Willingness to operate aerial lift around 20 feet.
Capability of obtaining a basic security clearance.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree in Electronics or related field including equivalent military experience.
3-5 years relevant field service.
EST4 Certification.
NICET Level II.

Responsibilities

Installs, programs, tests, repairs, and services a variety of systems and equipment, which may include security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation with guidance as needed.
Serves as the primary interface for providing technical support and training for the customer, ensuring customer satisfaction.
Refers more complex issues to higher-level colleagues.
Works with blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures unassisted; may require assistance with more complex specifications.
Interprets manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repairs equipment using knowledge of electronics and standard test instruments and hand tools.
Maintains a working understanding of building, mechanical, sprinkler, and fire codes.
Coaches and mentors less experienced colleagues.
Operates systems to demonstrate equipment, commission new systems, analyze performance, and identify malfunctions.
Writes routine programs for systems.
Acts as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times, ensuring Convergint is the customer’s first choice for service.
Consults with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation, maintenance, and warranty work.
May advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, installation techniques and standards, as well as suggestions for product improvements.
Executes technical aspects of multiple projects with varying timelines and budgets, including programming, graphics development, start-up, certification testing, customer training, close-out documentation, and ongoing technical support.
Identifies potential project risks, communicates them to appropriate parties, and assists in developing and implementing strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.
Works with the Fire Alarm Designer to ensure the fire alarm system meets all relevant codes and standards.
Works closely with the Project Manager and/or Operations Manager, assisting in the overall coordination of specific projects; makes recommendations regarding quality of work and potential changes in scope, and identifies ways to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
