About The Position

Symons Fire Protection is seeking a skilled and dependable Fire Alarm Technician to join our growing team. In this role, you will install, service, troubleshoot, and maintain fire alarm systems in new and existing commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. We are looking for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, values safety, and is committed to providing reliable fire protection solutions for our customers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate measurements, ratios, and percentages.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions.
  • Basic computer and mobile device proficiency.
  • Experience using or willingness to learn Paycom, Microsoft Outlook, and BuilderTrend.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • OSHA 10 certification (must be completed within the first 90 days of employment if not already obtained).
  • CPR & First Aid certification (must be completed within the first 90 days of employment if not already obtained).

Responsibilities

  • Install and service fire alarm control panels, audible/visual notification devices, pull stations, smoke detectors, heat detectors, and other fire alarm components.
  • Install fire alarm systems in new construction and existing buildings.
  • Fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain conduit, junction boxes, terminals, and related equipment.
  • Measure, cut, bend, and install conduit using appropriate tools and materials.
  • Pull, strip, terminate, and label fire alarm wiring using crimps, solder, shrink tubing, wire nuts, terminal blocks, and other industry-standard methods.
  • Troubleshoot fire alarm systems using a digital multimeter to identify and repair ground faults, shorts, and open circuits.
  • Program fire alarm panels, modules, sensors, and input/output devices.
  • Inspect, test, and verify installed systems using fire alarm testing equipment and visual/audible inspections.
  • Ensure all installations comply with applicable codes, company standards, and customer specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Complete required documentation and communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and customers.
  • Reliable and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
