About The Position

VSC Fire & Security in Charlotte, North Carolina is seeking candidates for the position of Fire Alarm - Low Voltage Technician Trainee. This role involves assisting in the installation, service, and inspection of integrated systems under the guidance of a licensed Integrated Systems Technician. Integrated Systems may include a variety of fire alarm, security, and communication systems.

Requirements

  • Reliable transportation, valid State Driver's License with acceptable driving record for use of company vehicle.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the construction or electrical industry.
  • Competence in reading and interpreting electrical plans, drawings, schematics, and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately interpret instructions and directives as assigned by supervisor.
  • Effectively communicate relevant project or service information to supervisor.
  • Complete work in a timely manner as outlined by supervisor.
  • Effectively communicate with others – including by not limited to co-workers, supervisors, and job site.
  • Occasional use of computers, phones, email, copier and/or other office technology.
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Exercise a modest level of independent judgment in to perform assigned duties.
  • Understand and operate industry specific tools to make sure a system is installed and serviced properly.
  • Assist with the installation, service, and inspection of integrated systems under the guidance of a supervisor. This may include, but not limited to; fire alarm, fire suppression, access control, video surveillance, intercom, sound/security systems, and other life safety and integrated systems.
