About The Position

Seeking a Fire Alarm Engineer / Inspector to support fire alarm system design reviews, code compliance evaluations, field inspections, deficiency reporting, client coordination, and AHJ/FDNY inspection support throughout the New York City metro area. This role combines field and office responsibilities and is ideal for professionals with experience in fire alarm systems, fire protection, building codes, construction inspection, or related technical disciplines.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in fire alarm inspection, fire alarm design, fire protection engineering, construction inspection, building code consulting, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the 2022 NYC Building Code and fire alarm system compliance requirements.
  • Experience reviewing construction drawings, identifying deficiencies, and preparing inspection or punch list reports.
  • Experience working on active construction sites and coordinating with contractors, project teams, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the NYC metro area.

Nice To Haves

  • Fire alarm system design experience.
  • AutoCAD proficiency.
  • Experience supporting FDNY inspections or working with AHJs.
  • Experience in fire protection, code consulting, or construction project management.

Responsibilities

  • Review fire alarm system designs, drawings, and documentation for compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Conduct field inspections and pre-inspections at active construction sites throughout the NYC metro area.
  • Identify deficiencies, document findings, and prepare corrective action reports and punch lists.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, project managers, site personnel, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) to support code compliance and project completion.
  • Support FDNY and other regulatory inspections as required.
  • Evaluate project conditions using technical knowledge of the 2022 NYC Building Code and fire alarm system requirements.
  • Communicate inspection findings, recommendations, and project updates in a professional and timely manner.
  • Manage both field and office-based responsibilities while collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
