About The Position

Impact Fire Services is looking for a Fire Alarm Designer to join their growing team. This position will be responsible for designing, developing, and drafting fire alarm systems for a wide variety of projects. The role also includes responsibility for project permitting and follow-up on ongoing projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with drafting technology using AutoCAD or Revit.

Requirements

  • Experience in fire alarm design required.
  • 3 to 5+ years of fire alarm design experience.
  • Experience should include tenant finish, remodel, ground up work, service, elevator modernization and special projects.
  • Fire Design Engineer experience should include AutoCAD, estimating, and liaison between the sales team and Install team.
  • Strong technology / computer skills
  • Strong understanding of Fire Alarm system installation practices
  • MUST have experience with code standards for Phoenix, Arizona or State of Arizona.
  • Successful completion of a drug test and pre-employment background screening is required. MVR checks are required for all driving positions.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of several commercial fire alarm systems; aspects including new systems, remodel, pre-action systems, elevator recall, VESIDA, Special Hazards preferred but not required.
  • NICET 3 Design certification is a preference but not required.
  • Knowledge of submitting drawings to AHJ and obtaining permits a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Performing battery calculations based upon the requirements of applicable NFPA standards.
  • Reviewing job plans and specifications to determine scope of design.
  • Designing NFPA compliant drawings within allocated hours for each job.
  • Design Fire Alarm systems with accuracy and detail to enable field installation.
  • Prepare job close-out documents such as as-builts, O&M's and warranties.
  • Submit design plans to proper department leadership for approval and obtain permits as required.
  • Perform field surveys and attend job meetings for coordination with contractors and other trades.
  • Prepare fabrication drawings, wiring and material lists for field technicians.
