A Fire Alarm Designer I is responsible for designing basic building systems, preparing technical documents and performing engineering calculations in coordination with project teams. This role involves performing calculations and designs of basic engineering systems in collaboration with experienced design staff, preparing system layouts, detailed drawings and schematics, and reviewing shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications. The designer will also prepare or modify reports, plans, and designs for projects, act as a mentor to less experienced designers, and support business development activities. Additionally, the role requires participation in client, company, and/or industry events to build and maintain professional relationships, fostering a client-centric mindset. Communication with clients is necessary for the development and coordination of requirements and scope of work, as well as answering questions from clients and architects. Occasional job site visits may be required to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress. Continuous learning and knowledge acquisition in industry trends, codes, and standards are essential.
