About The Position

The Finishing Operator operates high-speed finishing equipment to slit, inspect, and rewind printed pressure-sensitive labels. The role is responsible for quality checks before labels reach customers and for maintaining a fast-paced production flow. The position is on 2nd shift, Monday through Thursday, 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.

Requirements

Ability to identify small printing defects on rolls moving at high speeds.
Comfort working with tools for setups and making minor mechanical adjustments.
Ability to stand for long periods and regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
Strong grasp of basic measurements, including fractions and decimals, and ability to read a ruler accurately.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a printing, packaging, or manufacturing environment is preferred; candidates with a strong work ethic may be trained.

Responsibilities

Receive job assignments from the Press Supervisor or Team Lead, review job specifications, and select the correct cores and rewind method.
Review job jackets to ensure finishing, packaging, and shipping specifications are addressed.
Inspect products for quality and package them.
Monitor material flow through the machine to detect irregular cutting and winding.
Verify the quality of color, size, die cut, perforations, print, and packaged-item quantities.
Use strobe lights or automated inspection systems to identify and remove printing defects, flags, or splices.
Use correct core sizes, apply end-of-roll tape, and box and label finished products accurately.
Assist with cutting, collating, wrapping, and packaging converting jobs.
Perform preventative maintenance on machines.
Remove or replace blades on inspection machines.
Complete paperwork for each job and package finished goods for shipment to customers.
Keep work areas clear and organized and maintain housekeeping standards.
