About The Position

The Finishing Operator is responsible for maintaining a high level of efficiency and quality in their work. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of all procedures applicable to the machine(s) being operated, maintaining a safe work environment, and working collaboratively with team members to build strong working relationships. The operator must follow all safety rules for the department and the entire facility, be aware of Aquafil's Recycling Guidelines and Environmental Management Systems Policy, and perform general housekeeping as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be willing to work 12 hour swing shift.
  • Must have manufacturing experience, preferably in a similar position.
  • Must consent to a pre-employment drug screening and background screening.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts, add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, safety rules and instructions which are posted in English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Operators, Crew Leaders, Supervisors and Managers.

Responsibilities

  • Be aware of Aquafil's Recycling Guidelines and Environmental Management Systems Policy.
  • Perform general housekeeping as needed.
  • Pick up packages of yarn from floor level and place on creel package (approx. 12 lbs each).
  • Take finished packages off Doff tray to place on buggy (packages weigh 1 lb - 10 lbs each).
  • Push finished buggy to Gilbo inspection area (weight up to 600 lbs).
  • Bend to creel and rethread machine.
  • Place packages at shoulder height on creel and buggy.
  • Use tools including ring knife or snips.
  • Pick up packages of yarn from floor level and place on buggy up to shoulder height (approx. 12 lbs each).
  • Push buggy to cable twister (weighs approx. 360 lbs).
  • Place 1 package at a time in bucket slightly below waist level and start Doff cycle.
  • Take twisted yarn off Doff conveyor and place in a plastic box.
  • Bend to repair broken ends.
  • Pick up packages of yarn from floor level (approx. 12-15 lbs each).
  • Place packages on creel posts (20 inches from floor to shoulder height).
  • Thread machine into Heatset box, then into take-up winder.
  • Take finished packages (up to 10 lbs each) off Doff conveyor and place onto buggy (holds up to 60 packages).
  • Push buggy to Heatset inspection area (up to 600 lbs).
  • Bend to service bottom levels on winders to rethread and fix miss-Doffs.
  • Walk on platform in narrow space between winders.
