About The Position

Charter Manufacturing is a fourth-generation family-owned business seeking a Finishing Operator to join their team. This role is responsible for completing the final stages of the rolling process, including operating and monitoring finishing equipment for both coil and cut-to-length steel. Full on-the-job training is provided for various equipment and processes.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED, or willingness to enroll in our free GEDWorks program.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Basic math and communication skills.
• Strong collaboration, instruction-following, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Constant standing and lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Frequent sitting, walking, and lifting up to 10 lbs.
• Occasional work below waist level, pushing/pulling, carrying, extended reaching beyond 15 inches, fine motor tasks, and forceful motion.
• Minimal climbing, balancing, overhead reaching, foot use, and occasional lifting over 100 lbs.
• Must meet all physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation, as detailed in the Job Analysis Database.

Nice To Haves

• Forklift and/or overhead crane experience.
• Previous manufacturing experience.
• Safety awareness or related training.

Responsibilities

• Operate the Stelmor and bar line conveyors.
• Trim coil front and back end rings to quality specifications.
• Operate coil compactor and coil handling equipment.
• Operate the shear saw and stacking table.
• Operate a forklift.
• Maintain trimming equipment and manage scrap ring disposal.
• Follow all packaging requirements.
• Perform additional plant duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Support internal customer needs by working collaboratively with team members.
• Comply with all safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
• Meet all essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
