About The Position

Mill Rock Packaging (MRP) is a rapidly growing U.S.-based packaging company and a market leader in the design, engineering, and production of high-end, sustainable, and customized graphic paperboard, folding carton, and commercial printing products. MRP serves customers in various industries including consumer staples, food and beverage, technology, pharmaceuticals, health, beauty, and more. This role is a full-time, on-site position on the second shift (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM Eastern Time, Monday-Friday). Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • At least 1 year of paperboard folding carton industry or similar print/packaging experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience on a folder-gluer machine.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standard situations.
  • Basic computer skills are required to read work instructions, record job data, follow work schedule, and communicate via email.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Flexible, adaptable and teamwork oriented.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Perform a variety of tasks throughout the day in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to stand and move about the work station throughout the day.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years of consistent experience working with folding equipment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience as a Folding or Gluing Machine Operator at a printing company.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up and running folder/gluer machines to produce cartons that meet customer specifications.
  • Maintaining the equipment.
  • Tracking the production schedule.
  • Giving special instructions to the catchers.
  • Entering job information into the Radius computer program.
  • Communicating and correcting quality issues with plant leadership.
  • Preparing the make-ready of the feeder unit.
  • Running initial quantities after setting up the folder/gluer machine to demonstrate production capability.
  • Operating the folder/gluer machine that folds and glues various types of folding cartons and produce quality products.
  • Reading and responding to scheduling software to define machine set-up.
  • Understanding and practicing correct equipment operation.
  • Assisting with all associated set-up tasks as directed by the Folder Operator.
  • Locating stock, loads, loading and stacking according to size, shape, quantity to support machine efficiency.
  • Meeting monthly and quarterly efficiency goals by exceeding established production and quality standards.
  • Performing quality checks as required and reporting deficiencies to plant leadership when discovered.
  • Maintaining machine work records and updating them on a timely basis.
  • Monitoring equipment status and briefing plant leadership as needed.
  • Working around equipment and using tools to set up the folder/gluer machine.
  • Reporting any missing, broken, bent, or worn parts to supervisor or maintenance personnel.
  • Keeping the area clean and assisting in set-up of the equipment.
