About The Position

In the role of Decoral Finishing Lead Hand, you will be a part of the Longboard team primarily responsible for providing effective leadership, ensuring quality control and machine efficiency, and supporting the production personnel on your team. Your goal is to ensure the safe and effective operation of the equipment from production and quality control to training and continuous improvement. You will work with the Decoral team to organize work constraints and apply appropriate decision-making to ensure the machines in your area are producing consistent, high-quality material. The Decoral Lead Hand will be the right hand of their Supervisor, ensuring completion of the production schedule to meet company deadlines and performance targets.

Requirements

  • 2+ years production experience
  • Grade 12 high school or equivalent.
  • Able to lift 25 lbs. repetitively.
  • Familiar in LO/TO PPE and safety policies.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Proven track record in planning, organizing, motivating, controlling, problem-solving, negotiating and leadership in a manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Lean White/ Yellow belt or familiarity with Lean concepts is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of Decoral machine operators, providing support and guidance on machine operations, troubleshooting, and quality control.
  • Assist in training new team members on safety protocols and machine procedures.
  • Coordinate daily production activities, ensuring that work orders are completed on time and according to specifications.
  • Monitor machine efficiency and make adjustments as necessary to maintain optimal production flow.
  • Conduct regular quality checks on painted and decorated products, ensuring that the correct profiles, in the correct finishes are being run in the correct order.
  • Address quality issues promptly, working with the team to make adjustments and reduce scrap.
  • Identify and resolve equipment or material-related issues that may impact production.
  • Work with the maintenance team on equipment repairs or adjustments as needed to prevent downtime.
  • Enforce company safety policies, ensuring all team members follow proper procedures and use PPE.
  • Conduct daily safety checks on equipment and report any hazards to management.
  • Complete and maintain production logs, quality reports, and shift summaries.
  • Communicate production status, machine performance, and any issues to the Supervisor.
  • Ensure counts, label information and data entry are correct before the material leaves the workstation.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to identify opportunities for process improvements that enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve quality.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions to management on potential upgrades or training needs.
