About The Position

The Finishing Floater Specialist will be trained and assigned to work in a variety of roles. This person must be able to pack, water spider, run all HV & LV assets, work as an ASAP operator (operate JJ and packline), function as a back up to a TL and potentially operate the sheeter. Individuals in this role will need to be proficient in all of the previously noted roles. The Finishing Floater Specialist is responsible for leading machine set ups and changeovers, problem-solving, coordinating PM's, working with the engineering team on improvements, ensuring a quality product is being produced, and making decisions on machine adjustments. This position will work 7PM-7AM, 2-2-3.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) or 3+ years of relevant manufacturing work experience
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Support and model all Finishing activities within the team: safety, quality, productivity, teamwork & staffing needs
  • Function as back up Team Leader: Support and prioritize activities to meet daily targets and goals
  • Assist with communication of department goals and priorities
  • Coach and share best practices with all team members to drive results across the organization
  • Serve as a mentor to new employees and ensure they are receiving required training
  • Proactively communicates with the Plant Leadership Team regarding employee and operational challenges/ concerns.
  • Communicate daily shift reports
  • Adjust staffing as needed to achieve production targets of the assets
  • Attend and participate in all required training. May serve as a trainer for other employees in the department.
  • Keep work areas supplied with necessary packaging materials
  • Continuously review current processes and search out improvement methods to improve product/process quality and reduce waste, rework, and unnecessary work that adds no value to the work or process.
  • Communicate issues and performance in MARS, daily shift reports and/or email
  • Run orders per product specifications and standard practices.
  • Perform routine set-up and changeover of machine
  • Load bulk material into the machine and unload finished product.
  • Report any malfunctions or abnormalities and make minor adjustments and repairs to equipment.
  • Accurately capture and record necessary operating data, including downtime causes and performance-to-plan.
  • Inspect general appearance of finished product
  • Label and package finished goods for shipment per customer specifications, quality requirements, and standard practices
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area
  • Perform 5S duties and audits
  • Perform general housekeeping tasks and waste removal within department/group and assists other areas as required
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance
  • Coordinate necessary information to appropriate shift/department personnel to ensure effective operations
  • Follow all appropriate procedures to the accumulation, labeling, solid waste compacting, on-site transportation, storage and inspection of materials designated as hazardous waste per Environmental Control Instructions
  • Participate in group problem-solving teams and continuous improvement activities.
  • Assist and support other team members in meeting department and site goals.
  • Participate and share in performing all tasks necessary to run the facility.
  • Contribute and participate in team decision making.
  • Provide support in project work and other special requests.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by Supervisor
