About The Position

Standard Iron, a leader in contract manufacturing for over 90 years, is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Finisher for their Powder Coat Paint Department. This role involves removing parts from production nests, separating and sorting components, performing finishing operations like deburring and grinding, conducting quality inspections, and preparing parts for the next production stage. The ideal candidate values quality work, safety, and teamwork.

Requirements

  • Previous manufacturing, production, or metal fabrication experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, grinders, and finishing equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and production documentation.
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and prepare metal parts for the powder coating process by removing burrs, sharp edges, weld splatter, and other imperfections.
  • Use hand and power tools, such as grinders, sanders, and other finishing equipment, to smooth surfaces and prepare parts according to quality specifications.
  • Carefully inspect parts before and after finishing to identify defects, surface imperfections, or areas requiring additional work.
  • Ensure all parts meet required quality standards, specifications, and customer requirements before moving to the next stage of production.
  • Safely move, organize, and prepare parts and materials for the powder coating process.
  • Effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities throughout the day while maintaining productivity and quality.
  • Assist with various duties within the powder coat paint department, including hanging, unhooking, masking, plugging, and preparing parts as needed.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and other department equipment in accordance with established procedures.
  • Work closely with team members and other departments to maintain production flow and meet daily production goals.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, quality, efficiency, and workflow and communicate ideas to leadership.
