About The Position

The Fine Grade Operator will work collaboratively with the Laborers and Foreman for completion of jobsite activities. This role involves operating heavy motorized equipment in a safe and effective manner, ensuring adherence to safe work practices, and performing daily safety and maintenance checks on equipment. The operator will also be responsible for repairing and maintaining construction vehicles, performing preventive maintenance, and cleaning equipment. Additionally, the role requires the ability to work independently, stay on schedule, and perform general labor tasks when needed. A neat appearance, good attendance, teamwork, and a positive attitude are essential.

Requirements

• Proven ability to operate heavy equipment
• Valid driver/operator license
• High school diploma or equivalent or at least one year of experience
• Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance
• Knowledge of basic equipment and vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, checking oil and water levels
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
• Must always present a professional image, representing self and company in a professional, courteous and respectful manner when dealing with customers, vendors, employees and the public
• Skilled with various hand and power tools
• Competent operating excavators, backhoe, trencher, etc.
• Sit, stand, and walk continuously throughout the scheduled workday
• Stand, reach, drive and use fine motor skills frequently throughout the day
• Bend, kneel, squat, and climb throughout the workday
• Lift from 10 to 150 pounds
• Work both indoors and outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions and may be in loud environments
• Must work in a manner that will not jeopardize the health and safety of him/herself or others
• Must be able to read and comprehend English
• Willing to submit to a pre-employment drug test, background check, and motor vehicle record check

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy motorized equipment used in earth moving and construction operations in a safe and effective manner
• Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures
• Perform daily safety and maintenance checks on equipment
• Repair or assist in the repair and maintenance of the construction vehicles
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as required including fluid and filter changes and parts lubrication
• Clean equipment as scheduled or when required
• Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored when finished for the day
• Practice workplace safety per OSHA standards
• Ability to work independently and to stay on top of the schedule
• Willingness to do work outside of equipment operations, which includes but is not limited to general labor work
• Maintains a neat appearance and dresses appropriately for the job
• Good attendance
• Is a team player, and communicates well
• Presents a positive attitude about the company and the job
