About The Position

The Finish Assembler is responsible for the installation of final parts on fire apparatus as called for in the specifications. This position requires the reading and understanding of specs and blueprints to build fire apparatus. A Finish Assembler will use a variety of basic hand tools along with some welding to complete the installation of final parts to the fire apparatus.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Strong technical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Able to work proficiently with SolidWorks and DriveWorks.
  • Locate work orders and process them within the time allotment according to the work order, production schedule, and department objectives.
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately and precisely and have a basic understanding on how to use basic hand tools, shear, and brake press.
  • Ability to identify quality issues and recognize changes within ones production process and make the needed adjustments.
  • Communicate progress of project to the appropriate Supervisor or Shift Lead.
  • Able to read and work from blueprints/spec book.
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions and do so with a positive attitude.
  • You recognize the importance and adherence to all safety policies in order to promote a safe working environment, for everyone at the organization.
  • Ability to identify quality issues and recognize changes within ones production process and make the needed adjustments.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well in a team environment.
  • Understand the need to support the organization to work effectively by adhering to the attendance and punctuality standards and does not burden co-workers and supervisors unfairly with unnecessary and unplanned absences and lateness.
  • Ability to read technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to use effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to learn how to run a computer terminal or PC. No prior experience required (Incumbent will look up and/or enter information into a pre-formatted screen.)
  • Responsibilities are frequently guided and reviewed by a supervisor. They follow a standard set of instructions that describe the proper procedures for handling problems that may occur. Supervisor or other personnel would handle any problems not covered by these instructions.
