About The Position

WECU is seeking a Financial Wellness Representative to join our Community Impact department in Bellingham, WA. This role directly supports WECU’s ongoing Community Impact efforts by promoting financial wellness and education, service to underserved communities, and credit union advocacy.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations.
  • BA/BS in communications, marketing, economics, or comparable field
  • Fluency in marketing, advertising, community affairs and communications best practices.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Strong storytelling, writing, analysis, and communication skills.
  • Community and member event planning skills which include excellent organization, carrying out multiple tasks at the same time, thorough and clear communication with all event stakeholders, creative problem solving and high level of attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience using technical software for administrative tasks, querying data, and submitting report requests to BI, etc.
  • Ability to work effectively both with direction and independently.
  • Accurate writing skills, stressing composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Nice To Haves

  • CUNA Financial Counselor certification a plus.
  • Technical knowledge and experience with html, graphic design and copy writing preferred.
  • Understanding of social media and digital marketing best practices a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the execution, planning, preparation, and hosting of key credit union events including CU Day at the Capitol, legislative meetings, and classroom training sessions, both in-person and online.
  • Develop, execute, tracks and reports on community impact and product-level campaigns and budget reconciliation.
  • Collect and analyze data via business intelligence and other economic indicators in the development and maintenance of financial wellness and underserved community outcomes.
  • Represent WECU, as needed, at events such as educational seminars, legislative meetings, and promotional events.
  • Assist in writing, design, and production of community impact materials (e.g., financial education presentations, newsletter content, and training documents for varied uses/purposes).
  • Serve as the credit union liaison, as needed, with local colleges, high schools, and other community strategic partners.
  • Assist with inventory of community impact supplies.
  • Assist in vendor management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Follows WECU’s policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and may also assist others to complete tasks and work assignments.
