About The Position

The Variable Compensation Analyst is a key member of the Finance team responsible for supporting the administration, calculation, reporting, and analysis of the organization's variable compensation programs. This role partners closely with Sales, Business Development, and Finance leadership to ensure accurate and timely incentive compensation processing, provide actionable business insights, and support strategic initiatives. The analyst will play an important role in maintaining compensation plans, performing data analysis, supporting compensation program enhancements, and assisting with business development activities, including market surveys and client RFI/RFP responses. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented and analytical professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in variable compensation, financial analysis, accounting, sales operations, or a related analytical role.
  • Experience supporting incentive compensation or commission programs in a professional environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and work with large datasets.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience working in high-volume data environments.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with sales compensation, commissions administration, or incentive compensation management programs.
  • Familiarity with CRM, ERP, or compensation management systems.
  • Experience with financial reporting, business analytics, or data visualization tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify process improvements and support cross-functional business initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Execute recurring variable compensation calculations and ensure the accuracy of incentive payments in accordance with established compensation plans.
  • Maintain documentation and tracking of variable compensation plans, metrics, and payout structures across multiple business units.
  • Analyze compensation data to identify trends, variances, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Prepare reports and provide insights related to compensation performance, earnings, and plan effectiveness.
  • Respond to compensation-related inquiries from internal stakeholders and provide ongoing support regarding plan administration and calculations.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Finance, and other business partners to ensure accurate compensation reporting and data integrity.
  • Support the implementation, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement of variable compensation processes and systems.
  • Assist with the completion of industry and market surveys, including the collection, validation, and analysis of operational and financial data.
  • Partner with Marketing and Finance leadership to compile and review survey results that support business planning and market benchmarking efforts.
  • Work closely with Sales and Business Development teams to complete pricing and financial components of Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and enhance the scalability of compensation processes.
