About The Position

U.S. Bank is seeking a Financial Systems Analyst to support the Finance Division's managerial and regulatory reporting processes within the Management Reporting Operations (MRO) group. MRO supports bank-wide managerial, Basel, regulatory reporting, and customer initiatives by ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of financial data used for internal and external reporting. This role serves as a liaison between Finance, Accounting, Business Lines, and Technology teams to analyze financial data, support reporting processes, investigate discrepancies, and ensure successful implementation of reporting and data initiatives. The ideal candidate combines strong accounting or finance knowledge with analytical and problem-solving skills and a desire to learn new skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in MIS, CIS, CS, Statistics, Math, Accounting, Finance or Economics, or equivalent work experience
  • Typically six to eight years of related experience
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and banking products.
  • Experience supporting managerial reporting, regulatory reporting, Basel reporting, or financial close processes.
  • Knowledge of financial controls, reconciliation processes, and data governance concepts.
  • Ability to analyze financial results and identify trends, anomalies, and root causes.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience researching and resolving complex financial data issues.
  • Ability to perform data analysis using Excel and other reporting tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively with accounting, finance, business line, and technology partners.
  • Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into reporting and data requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex financial or reporting issues to diverse audiences.
  • Intermediate experience with data querying tools such as SQL or Toad.
  • Experience working with financial systems, data warehouses, or reporting platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis functions.
  • Experience participating in projects involving financial reporting, accounting processes, or system enhancements.
  • Understanding of testing methodologies and system development life cycle concepts.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical reporting deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Support managerial and regulatory reporting processes by ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Perform financial data analysis, reconciliation, and validation to support reporting accuracy.
  • Partner with accounting teams, business lines, and technology partners to research and resolve financial reporting discrepancies.
  • Analyze business requirements and assess impacts to financial reporting and managerial information systems.
  • Participate in projects affecting financial, managerial, and regulatory reporting processes.
  • Develop and execute test plans for system enhancements, new reporting requirements, and data integrations.
  • Document findings, issues, and recommendations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of reporting controls and documentation.
  • Support critical month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting activities.
  • Participate in periodic production support and issue resolution activities.
