About The Position

The Senior Financial System Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting corporate initiatives through system testing and project participation. This role involves communicating business needs and requirements for system or product implementations, providing updates on issues and project status to management, and troubleshooting system problems. The analyst will also guide junior staff, act as a liaison between business and technical teams, and support Agile processes. Key responsibilities include validating HIPAA EDI transactions, researching and resolving transaction errors, balancing system-generated claims payments, performing complex balance sheet account reconciliations, preparing journal entries, and reviewing compliance guidelines. The position requires a strong understanding of financial systems and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic to intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in projects as a test lead role to support corporate initiatives and provide system test support.
  • Communicate business need and requirements relevant to the success of system or product implementation, including issues and project status to management.
  • Troubleshoot system problems and collect relevant information to solve problems or determine the best solution with minimal risk and impact to customers.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations on resolving complex issues with coordination from other business leads and management.
  • Provide guidance to junior staff on more complex issues.
  • Serve as a key liaison between business and technical teams by supporting Agile processes, facilitating sprint planning, backlog refinement, and daily stand-up meetings.
  • Validate HIPAA Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transactions related to Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA).
  • Research and resolve transaction errors, transaction balancing issues, and data discrepancies.
  • Balance system-generated claims payments by investigating and resolving payment variances, out-of-balance conditions, and other payment-related discrepancies.
  • Perform medium to high complexity balance sheet account reconciliation on a monthly basis, including benefit expense account balance to underwriting, cash, receivable and payable account reconciliation.
  • Prepare reconciliation and documentation for internal and external audit review.
  • Balance claims system payments and identify and resolve discrepancies with minimal supervision.
  • Prepare and review Standard Journals, Reimbursements Journal, and Journal Entries for input to the General Ledger.
  • Perform wire transactions and other payment-related activities.
  • Document workflows and policy and procedures related to payment activities.
  • Perform analysis of financial data and assist management in compiling information for financial reporting or audits.
  • Review compliance guidelines including HIPAA Core Rules, Washington Publishing Company Updates, BCBS Association updates.
  • Research and analyze other Federal and State regulatory requirements.
  • Lead or facilitate communication with key stakeholders to implement requirements.
  • Perform all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned or directed.
