About The Position

Reconciles, reports, and maintains the financial records and activities for the court requiring some independent judgment. Performs specialized fiscal support duties such as handling accounts payable/receivable; processing tax and title transactions; approving invoices; and processing bills, deposits, and refunds. Reviews documents for accuracy. Processes daily reports. May process payroll timesheets and handle benefits information. Makes journal entries and other changes and adjustments to correct erroneous information on documents. Reconciles and balances cashier reports and monthly bank statements. Maintains and processes the newspaper citations weekly. Handles disputes, collections, customer complaints, and other complex problems. Records ownership of splits and combined property. Composes and edits correspondence, applications, claims, forms, permits, appeals, transfers, and specialized reports. Accepts, verifies, enters, and makes changes on complex applications and forms. Collects monies for fines and prepares bank deposits for pickup as required. Verifies signatures and information to detect fraud and ensure applications and forms meet strict deadlines. Acts as a liaison between the department, assigned staff, and the public. Assists in resolving complex account disputes. May assist in interviewing job applicants, making recommendations for new hires, and training new employees. Attends staff meetings and training workshops to remain current on policies and procedures. Serves as liaison between the Probate Court and the public.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED and at least two years of fiscal support experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requires knowledge of general office practices, procedures, equipment, and technology.
  • Laws, rules, and regulations governing court fiscal procedures.
  • Advanced fiscal principals and mathematical computations.
  • Requires skill in delivering high quality, customer-focused service.
  • Bookkeeping.
  • Reviewing documents for detail and accuracy.
  • Maintaining and securing confidential files and documents.
  • Using spreadsheet, database, word processing, presentation, and other software.
  • Understanding, using, and explaining Court-specific computer applications to manage court processes, gather and analyze statistics, and create reports.
  • Building sustainable working relationships with other County personnel, officials, and the public.
  • Generating enthusiasm and support for program objectives.
  • Communicating effectively with coworkers, supervisor, and the public.
