About The Position

The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking a detail-oriented and well-organized finance professional to join the Finance Division team in the Bergen Vicinage. This role requires strong accounting, analytical, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an understanding of accounting fundamentals and financial reporting systems, possess strong problem-solving abilities, and be proficient in Excel. The position is located in Hackensack, NJ, with a hybrid work schedule allowing up to two days of remote work, provided high-speed internet access and multifactor authentication are available. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by 21 credit hours in accounting, business administration, economics, public administration, statistics, mathematics, data analytics and/or financial related courses.
  • Six of these credit hours must be in accounting.
  • Applicants who do not possess the required education, but do possess the 21 accounting, business administration, economics, public administration, statistics, mathematics, data analytics and/or financial related courses, including six accounting credit hours, may substitute additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits.
  • College or university transcript is required. An unofficial transcript is required in order to apply.
  • Degrees conferred outside of the United States must be evaluated by a recognized evaluation service.
  • US citizenship is not required.
  • Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison and establish positive working relationships with other divisions, vicinages, central office and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze requisitions, vouchers, bank statements or financial transactions.
  • Perform financial and internal control audits.
  • Monitor, screen and process financial transactions and modifications.
  • Collect and maintain case statistics and financial data to generate status reports for various funding sources, including grants and the Federal Title IV-D program.
  • Navigate various legacy and proprietary technology systems to extract needed data.
  • Participate fully in team or work unit meetings and special projects.
  • Prepare and enter accounting entries and calculate salary data.
  • Process transactions, record monies received, reconcile balances and accounts.
  • Provide quality customer service to court users and/or internal customers.
  • Review activities for adherence to applicable procedures, administrative directives and laws/regulations.
  • Review correspondence, reports and forms for completeness, clarity and accuracy.
  • Recommend improvements in operating procedures, programs, standards, work processes, or administrative practices.
  • Verify entered data against source documents.
  • Treat all personnel, clients and the public with dignity and respect.
  • Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.
