About The Position

Performs routine accounting auditing duties. Ensure the accurate recording and reporting of a unit's financial transactions. Analyzes and prepares reports for financial information on a variety of standard ASU and sponsored accounts. Forecasts account to avoid deficits and utilizes mathematical problem solving to provide information to end users for decision making. Approves financial and payroll transactions, ensuring the expenses are allowable with ASU and sponsoring agency/contract conditions and requirements. Provides guidance and assistance in preparing basic administrative post award documents. Responds to requests timely using effective interpersonal communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills and methods. Responsible for preparing budgets and forecasts for non-sponsored accounts in ASU financial system. Works under deadlines, manages multiple responsibilities and duties, while navigating interruptions and unclear and/or changing situations.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree and one (1) year of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Experience in preparing basic financial documents and account management.
  • Knowledge of quality customer service standards, methods, and practices.
  • Experience being a problem solver who can take initiative, manage workload effectively and set priorities while being flexible.
  • Experience working independently as well as a member of a team.
  • Experience in building strong relationships and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated skills such as understanding generally accepted accounting principles, mathematical comprehension, and data analysis.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience using ASU systems including Enterprise Research Administration (ERA), Workday for financial, PeopleSoft for human resources, Adaptive Planning/Workday for budgeting.
