About The Position

Financial Services Representative Jefferson Healthcare Announcement #341298 Are you a highly customer-focused individual with a passion for helping patients navigate the complexities of healthcare finance? Jefferson Healthcare is seeking a detail-oriented and empathetic Financial Services Representative to be a core support for our Revenue Cycle team. This role is the first point of contact for many patients and plays a critical part in ensuring a smooth and successful billing and collections process.

Requirements

  • High school education or GED required
  • Minimum of 1 year of collection and credit experience required
  • Customer service training and experience required
  • Must complete Financial Counseling Training within 12 months of hire required

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of online computerized patient billing systems preferred
  • Knowledge of collection laws and procedures preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary contact for patients and Jefferson Healthcare employees, exhibiting exemplary customer service during all interactions. Handle incoming department calls, resolving or routing inquiries efficiently.
  • Assist Financial Counselors and Billers with patient communications related to accounts, including making calls to patients or payers for billing resolution and collections. This includes determining and documenting appropriate payment arrangements with patients/guarantors.
  • Process and collect patient payments both in the office and over the phone. Assist patients with questions regarding self-pay and uninsured billing processes and guide them through the Financial Assistance Application process.
  • Monitor self-pay and uninsured patient accounts for timely follow-up. Resolve EMR work queue items and respond to and help prevent issues that lead to claim denial. Work collaboratively with other JHC departments to minimize patient billing and collections issues.
  • Perform various clerical duties, including scanning, faxing, and filing for the Revenue Cycle department. Ensure all patient and payer interactions are thoroughly and clearly documented in Epic. Assist with cash drawer management, including closing and balancing duties.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, offering ideas for process improvement. Help the Supervisor of Financial Counseling with department-specific tasks (e.g., Medicare Chart audits, marketing) as requested.
