About The Position

As a Financial Resources Specialist, you will obtain and evaluate information from Caseworkers and client records in order to make timely determinations of eligibility for the Title IV-E program. In performing these duties, your goals will be to ensure compliance with the Federal Title IV-E program requirements and to maximize Maine’s reimbursement for child welfare services.

Requirements

  • To qualify, your background must include a four (4) year combination of education, training, and/or progressively responsible experience performing administrative and/or complex clerical tasks including experience which demonstrates interviewing and data gathering skills as needed to form the basis for judgments in eligibility determinations.
  • The ability to research, gather and analyze client information and make reimbursement eligibility determinations in accordance with established standards.
  • The ability to work in a fast paced, customer service-oriented position.
  • The ability to gain a working knowledge of multiple federal and state policies and programs in a compressed timeframe.
  • Skilled in the use of standardized desktop technology and products.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring Title IV-E eligibility information is collected and entered into the Katahdin (Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System) in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Communicating directly with Office of Child and Family Services Caseworkers, providers and other state and federal agencies in order to obtain information and ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations and policies.
  • Obtaining MaineCare and other state and federal benefits for children in the State’s care based on eligibility.
  • Performing quality assurance audits of eligibility records to ensure accuracy of Title IV-E reimbursement and assisting in various state and federal audits to ensure compliance of federal Title IV-E law.
  • Preparing cases for and assisting in state and federal audits to ensure compliance with Title IV-E & IV-B laws.
