About The Position

The Financial Reporting Manager will direct and manage junior staff in various accounting and financial reporting activities. This role ensures the accurate and timely preparation, review, production, and distribution of internal and external corporate and bank financial reports and data submissions. These reports are distributed to or filed with the Truist Board of Directors and Executive Leadership, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and Federal Reserve Board (FRB). The position involves collaborating across the Finance division to ensure financial integrity and sound controls, supporting reporting and analysis for various constituencies, and applying in-depth knowledge to produce relevant financial analysis and reporting. The role requires compiling, reviewing, analyzing, and submitting timely and accurate reporting in accordance with complex GAAP and Regulatory Reporting Requirements, ensuring source data reliability and documentation, and interpreting/summarizing results and trends for Senior Leadership. The manager will act as a subject matter expert on accounting and regulatory reporting requirements, maintain technical knowledge of GAAP, deepen understanding of complex accounting and regulatory matters, coordinate with internal and external audits, assist in risk management and business continuity planning, and maintain strong working relationships with supported business areas and cross-functional departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent education and related training
  • Five years of relevant accounting or accounting policy experience
  • Understanding of GAAP and SEC/Regulatory Reporting.
  • Ability to take direction and then work independently to complete tasks while considering broader implications or necessary additional analysis.
  • Ability to build consensus through communication and presentation of factual and relevant information.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Sound and logical decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work well with others in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or advanced degree in Business or Accountancy
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge.
  • Prior experience working for a large, SEC-registered financial institution or senior manager-level public accountant with extensive bank experience
  • Prior experience as an examiner of financial reports for either the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), FRB or FDIC
  • Proficient in Essbase/Hyperion, EPM/BPC, and Workiva.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that source data is reliable, complete and documentation is maintained to support data integrity initiatives.
  • Interpret and summarize results and trends for Senior Leadership.
  • Prepare and review materials to senior leadership summarizing issues and communicating solutions.
  • Coordinate with internal and external audits and examinations.
  • Assist in risk management governance and business continuity planning processes as necessary.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with supported business area to complete tasks and deliver high quality work.
  • Maintain relationships with cross-functional departments to broaden knowledge and solve more complex situations.
