About The Position

The Financial Reporting Accountant is responsible for overseeing the preparation, review, and distribution of financial statements to senior management, investors, and lenders. This role includes managing consolidated financial statements, such as balance sheets, profit and loss, and cash flow statements for various real estate entities, including multifamily, commercial, mixed-use, hospitality, and construction.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience in finance, investment accounting, real estate accounting, or private equity.
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP financial reporting standard, and experience in real estate investment fund accounting.
  • Proficient in accounting ERP software, preferably Yardi Voyage 7s, Investment Accounting or Sage 300.
  • Strong Excel skills, adept at generating insightful reports from a dataset using advance formulas.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding communication and team collaboration abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • A master’s degree and CPA certification, or being a CPA candidate, is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the preparation, review, and distribution of all financial statements to senior management, investors, and lenders.
  • Assist on preparing consolidated balance sheet, profit and loss, and cash flow statements, including review of related workpapers for various types of entities such as multifamily, commercial, mixed-use, hospitality and construction.
  • Supports month end and year end closing.
  • Review loan agreements, notes, etc., to ensure timely preparation, calculation, and distribution of all required reports to lenders as per loan covenants, including real estate schedules, contingent liability, debt service coverage ratio, among others.
  • Assist the real estate acquisition and loan due diligence process.
  • Manage and maintain timely mortgage payments to lenders.
  • Manage Investors’ equity, distribution, contribution and capital call.
  • Serve as liaison between lenders and investors to address questions related to financial information.
  • Monitors and ensures timely identification and compliance with evolving accounting guidance, provides US GAAP interpretation and prepares technical memorandums that document issues in a clear, logical, and comprehensive manner.
  • Communicates and explains accounting issues and evolving accounting guidance to the management team.
  • Communicates with external auditors on external financial statements and accounting issues to ensure auditor agreement with company decisions on accounting disclosures, and issues.
  • Assists in the coordination of annual audit and quarterly review activities of external auditors.
  • Directly oversee one outsourced accounting staff in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Creates, implements, and maintains comprehensive accounting policy documents to improve clarity and consistency.
  • Implements and maintains reporting procedures to comply with internal control requirements.
  • Performs continuous assessment of the close process and process re-engineering to reduce the timing to close the financial period.
  • Participate in the preparation of annual operating budgets.
