About The Position

Respective Wealth, a private wealth advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services, is seeking a motivated Financial Planning Intern to join our team for the summer. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain meaningful experience in financial planning and wealth management while working alongside experienced advisors and professionals. Our internship is designed for a student who is serious about building a career in the financial services industry. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in client meetings, gain exposure to the financial planning process, contribute to real client needs, and work on projects that provide valuable professional experience. Most importantly, we view this internship as an opportunity to identify and develop future talent. For the right candidate, this internship may lead to a full-time opportunity after graduation, with a career path that can include continued professional development and future growth toward an Advisor role.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Financial Planning, or a related field and entering your senior year
  • Genuine interest in building a long-term career in financial services and wealth management
  • Strong interest in learning about financial planning and the Advisor profession
  • Professional, friendly, and personable communication style
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical and independent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize effectively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong personal and professional ethics, integrity, and accountability

Nice To Haves

  • Salesforce experience is a plus
  • Prior professional office experience, particularly within financial services, is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and observe client meetings to gain firsthand exposure to wealth management and client relationships
  • Assist advisors with financial planning and client service needs
  • Support the preparation and organization of client information
  • Update and maintain accurate client information within the CRM
  • Assist with financial planning and practice-related projects
  • Complete special projects designed to provide meaningful exposure to the business
  • Work collaboratively with the team while developing your knowledge of the financial services industry
