The Financial Planning Consultant partners with Financial Advisors to review clients’ current portfolio design, understand client goals, enter client data, and conduct financial analysis. This role evaluates overall individual and employer-based retirement needs, researches various options, and recommends planning alternatives. The consultant researches and provides recommendations related to risk management concerns, including insurance, and designs and recommends a tailored financial analysis or comprehensive financial plan for clients and prospects that meets their short and long-term financial needs and goals. The position involves preparing presentations that clearly communicate recommendations and alternatives, performing detailed document reviews, and analyzing client information and situations across the financial planning spectrum to develop plans. The consultant will research information as necessary on a case-by-case basis and write customized financial plan observations and recommendations for each client case. They will prepare files for meetings with existing and new clients, prepare, coordinate, and follow through on any needed communication with new or existing clients, and continuously monitor clients’ financial situations with detail and accuracy, with the ability to look at their overall financial picture. The role also involves responding to client questions by telephone, email, and occasional personal visits, educating clients on the functions of various securities markets and the principal factors that affect them, providing guidance on estate planning options and techniques, and responding to and directing education funding questions including 529 savings plans. Assistance with guidance on small business planning is also a responsibility. The consultant will conduct research as needed related to assigned client cases, including basic income tax questions and other legal issues, requesting guidance when appropriate. Depending on the needs of the business, the role may also participate in client presentations, open, transfer, and close customer accounts and maintain appropriate account records, and obtain and verify client purchase and sale instructions, enter orders, and follow up on transaction completion. The consultant ensures firm and regulatory policies are followed within compliance standards and performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
