About The Position

The Financial Planning and Analysis Director – Information Technology serves as the senior finance partner to IT leadership, providing strategic financial guidance, disciplined investment governance, and transparency into technology spend. This role translates IT strategy and roadmaps into structured financial plans, ensures value realization from technology investments, and enables informed decision making across the enterprise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline (or equivalent demonstrated experience).
  • 12+ years of progressive post‑education experience in financial planning and analysis, with significant experience supporting IT, technology, or transformation‑heavy organizations.
  • Deep understanding of technology financial management, including project accounting, cloud economics, SaaS, licensing, and vendor financial management.
  • Experience with technology investment governance, ROI modeling, and portfolio prioritization.
  • Strong executive communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and cross‑functional partners.
  • Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • Experience with enterprise financial planning and reporting systems (e.g., Oracle, Anaplan, Adaptive, Workday, or similar); familiarity with project or portfolio management tools (e.g., Workfront) preferred.
  • Proven ability to operate independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, evolving environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a continuous improvement orientation and strong customer‑service focus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a proactive and trusted finance partner to the CIO, CISO, and IT senior leadership, translating technology strategies and roadmaps into multi‑year financial plans.
  • Provide clear, data‑driven insights that reflect financial, operational, and business requirements to support executive and enterprise decision‑making.
  • Influence and align stakeholders across infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, and digital transformation teams with competing priorities.
  • Lead department‑level and multi‑year IT budget, forecast, and long‑range planning processes, including demand planning and scenario modeling.
  • Own financial management of the IT investment portfolio, including Run / Grow / Transform initiatives.
  • Drive effective capacity, demand, and resource planning to align funding with strategic priorities.
  • Oversee IT cost structures, including CapEx vs. OpEx decisions, cloud services, SaaS subscriptions, licensing, vendor contracts, and managed services.
  • Implement and maintain cost transparency models (e.g., service‑based cost views, chargeback/showback where applicable).
  • Partner with IT leadership to identify cost optimization opportunities while balancing risk, scalability, and performance.
  • Establish and govern standard business case frameworks, investment approvals, and financial review processes for major IT initiatives.
  • Evaluate ROI, total cost of ownership, and value realization for infrastructure modernization, cloud migration, cybersecurity, ERP, data, and digital programs.
  • Track post‑implementation benefits and ensure accountability for outcomes.
  • Define and implement IT‑specific KPIs linking technology spend to outcomes such as cost efficiency, delivery velocity, utilization, and value realization.
  • Build advanced analytics capabilities to support variance analysis, scenario modeling, and forward‑looking insights.
  • Communicate complex financial and technical concepts clearly to executive and senior leadership audiences.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing IT FP&A team, setting clear expectations, priorities, and accountability.
  • Serve as a thought leader in process simplification, standardization, and scalability, enabling a growing and evolving IT environment.
  • Ensure compliance with financial controls, policies, and systems while continuously enhancing technology finance processes.
  • Demonstrate strong execution discipline, urgency, and the ability to set direction, manage tradeoffs, and meet tight timelines.
