About The Position

The Financial Planner is responsible for providing support to Senior Relationship Managers by executing tasks related to comprehensive financial planning and retirement plan consulting services, maintaining client relationships, developing additional work product, and investment management assistance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree required.
  • CFP® or CEBS designation, or significant progress toward either designation.
  • 2–4 years experience in a financial services company, preferably with a financial advisor/financial planner.
  • Strong attention to detail and a strong aptitude for learning.
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively deal with all types of people.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required; problems are technically complex and require the collection, interpretation, and analysis of data from diverse sources.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, Cheshire Wealth Manager, BNA Income Tax Planner and Morningstar.
  • Strong commitment to client service.
  • Personal integrity and ability to discreetly handle confidential data.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Director of Financial Planning in the development of financial plans.
  • Collect, validate and analyze financial data.
  • Input data into financial planning software and develop initial planning recommendations.
  • Demonstrate a broad base of knowledge across all areas of financial planning, including investments, insurance, tax management, retirement analysis and estate planning.
  • Possess a solid understanding of investment markets and products.
  • Provide support for the Director of Retirement Plan Services.
  • Provide objective analysis and investment recommendations on retirement plans as a whole.
  • Monitor investments on at least a quarterly basis.
  • Help to develop services for retirement plan sponsors with fiduciary responsibility.
  • Provide support in developing and presenting in-person and written education to plan participants.
  • Respond to general questions on investments from plan participants.
  • Refer plan participants to financial planning specialists within or outside of the firm when appropriate.
  • Obtain information necessary to complete/revise a financial plan and/or evaluate retirement plan consulting strategy.
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance of client relationships.
  • Handle day-to-day client requests.
  • Follow up to planning and retirement plan consulting projects.
  • Participate in client/prospect meetings.
  • Handle special projects as assigned for both financial planning and retirement plan consulting areas, demonstrating initiative and increasing ability to complete assignments independently.
