About The Position

NFI Industries is seeking an entry-level Financial Operations Analyst I to support its Cash Administration team, which covers Cash Application, Freight Bill Audit, Carrier Payment Support, and Accounts Payable. This is a support and analysis role rather than a transaction-processing role. The analyst reviews underlying data, identifies where and why processes break down, builds reporting and metrics, documents processes, and supports NFI’s transition from Lawson to Workday Financials. The role is based in Camden, New Jersey, and reports to the Cash Administration Manager. The Cash Administration team is part of Financial Services. The position is intended as a starting point for someone interested in a career in finance operations analysis and finance systems. The analyst works with cash, accounts payable, remittance, carrier payment, process, and system-conversion data, and supports the team through Workday implementation and go-live.

  • Zero to two years of experience in a finance, accounting, or data analysis role; internships count.

  • Strong attention to detail and curiosity about why numbers look the way they do.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain findings simply.
  • Self-starter who follows issues through to completion and can manage multiple priorities, including month-end.
  • Willingness to learn new systems and processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to accounts receivable, cash application, or accounts payable.
  • Exposure to an ERP system such as Workday, Lawson/Infor, Oracle, or SAP.

  • Experience in transportation, logistics, or another high-volume billing environment.
  • Interest in finance systems and system implementations; familiarity with Workday Financials.

Responsibilities

  • Review unapplied and unidentified cash data by customer, business line, bank account, and age to identify patterns and root causes.
  • Analyze accounts payable exceptions, including missing purchase orders, price or quantity mismatches, duplicates, and coding errors, and identify their sources and frequency.
  • Review remittance sources, including email, EDI 820, and customer portals, and Rossum results to identify missing, late, or unusable data.
  • Identify recurring issues by customer, vendor, source system, or process step and present findings with suggested fixes.
  • Prepare research packages to support team and Accounting decisions about write-offs, refunds, and overpayments.
  • Build and maintain weekly and monthly metrics for unapplied cash, unidentified cash, accounts payable exceptions, and carrier payment issues.
  • Pull and prepare data from Lawson, Rossum, and Excel-based reports, keeping reports accurate and on time.
  • Track progress toward process improvement goals and report trends over time.
  • Respond to ad hoc data requests from the Cash Administration team and Finance leadership.
  • Document current processes, handoffs, and roles, including handoffs between Cash Application and Collections.
  • Write and maintain step-by-step procedures and job aids.
  • Identify training gaps and support training sessions.
  • Test and validate changes to tools, rules, and import files, including Rossum and Lawson import files, before they go live.
  • Track open issues and follow them through to resolution with the appropriate owner.
  • Document current-state cash application, accounts payable, and carrier payment processes and data flows for the Workday Financials transition.
  • Review and clean up open accounts receivable, open accounts payable, customer, and supplier data before conversion.
  • Validate converted data by reconciling Lawson balances and open items to Workday.
  • Help write and run test scenarios for cash application, accounts payable, bank settlement, and payments, and log issues.
  • Learn Workday Financials, help build training materials, and support the team through go-live and the first month-end closes.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by the role and determined by management.
