About The Position

We are looking for a Financial Operations, Accounting Technician dedicated to the accounting of our printing operations at our Halifax plants. The accountant ensures the accuracy of the sites’ financial statements by performing financial operations and contributing to monthly close activities. Under the supervision of the Multi-site Financials Operation Controller, the primary role of the Financial Operations, Accounting Technician is to perform accounting tasks requiring experience with accounting principles and practices. You will contribute to the monthly close process, account reconciliations, journal entries, and cost calculations. This position works closely with Sales, Production, Purchasing, Customer Service, and accounting teams. The Financials Operation Accountant will report to the Multi-site Controller, Financial Operations for the Anjou and Halifax plants.

Requirements

  • College diploma in Administration or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience
  • Manufacturing environment experience
  • Strong analytical skills and a collaborative mindset with all plant and head office functions
  • Strong communication skills, adaptability to change, and a desire to improve processes while achieving objectives
  • Autonomous and proactive, with strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with rigor and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with manufacturing and financial management software
  • Excellent command of Excel

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the monthly and annual close processes of business entity.
  • Record journal entries in accordance with applicable standards
  • Prepare and optimize various monthly analyses (expense analysis, balance sheet analysis, inventory and reconciliations, billing, production cost calculations)
  • Monitor various production performance indicators and KPIs
  • Participate in physical inventory and fixed asset counts and process variances
  • Provide support during internal and external audits
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects for accounting operations and propose initiatives
  • Actively participate in various projects at the Halifax plant.
  • Develop and update procedures, instructions, and training materials for current accounting functions
