About The Position

Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi is seeking a qualified Facilitator for the Financial Empowerment Program. The Program Facilitator of the Financial Empowerment Program is a leader whose primary role is to be the Liaison for Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi, representing the Financial Empowerment Program in Gregory. The facilitator has experience working with diverse socio-economic communities, knowledge of poverty/financial literacy education, skills in community organizing/volunteer management, and awareness of the social service resources in the Gregory/Portland community. This is a part-time position. The employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Ability to relate authentically and effectively with people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds
  • Ability to delegate tasks
  • Ability to remain calm amidst stress or conflict and to mediate disagreements
  • Solid organizational skills to manage complex tasks with autonomy
  • Familiarity with available social services in the community
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle check, and drug screen prior to hiring
  • Complete and Maintain a Safe Environment (CMSE) training within 30 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Continuously grow in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
  • Community outreach in the Gregory/Portland area focusing largely on building awareness of the resources available for residents offered by the Financial Empowerment Program of Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi
  • Coordinate the usage of the facility in Gregory where Financial Empowerment Classes will take place and for the host site of monthly events
  • Community advocate for the residents of the Gregory/Portland area living in poverty, communicating their needs/barriers that prevent access to resources, and a pathway to break out of poverty
  • Data collection and reporting, retrieving a client intake form for each service provided, maintaining accurate recordkeeping of all expenditures following agency policy, running reports when needed, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
