About The Position

The Financial Education Specialist is a Strategic Program Manager responsible for overseeing Canvas Credit Union’s financial education strategy and execution across schools, universities, and community organizations. This role manages Canvas’s relationship with its digital financial education partner (currently EverFi or similar), ensuring programs align with Colorado state graduation requirements for financial education. This position serves as the strategic lead for financial education initiatives across Canvas partner organizations — including all nine high schools within the Douglas County School District and Canvas university partners. The role oversees financial education strategy, partner engagement, program alignment, and performance outcomes while collaborating closely with internal teams to maximize visibility, engagement, and community impact.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, program management, and partnership development.
  • Strong public speaking, facilitation, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of financial literacy topics, curriculum standards, and digital education platforms.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with educational standards or state graduation requirements.
  • Familiarity with digital financial education platforms (e.g., EverFi).
  • Experience working with K-12 schools, universities, or community organizations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Finance, Business, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience managing educational programs, financial literacy initiatives, strategic partnerships, or community engagement projects.

  • Experience supporting or engaging university students and student-athletes preferred.
  • Spanish language proficiency a plus.
  • Experience with credit unions or financial institutions preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Canvas’s relationship with its digital financial education partner, ensuring platform content is effective, current, engaging, and aligned with Colorado state graduation requirements.
  • Evaluate existing financial education solutions and recommend new or enhanced platforms and partnerships to support strategic goals and community impact.
  • Develop and implement scalable financial education initiatives across K-12 schools, universities, and community organizations.
  • Oversee the structure, alignment, and execution strategy for financial education initiatives across partner organizations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Marketing, Community Involvement, Strategic Partnerships, Business Development, etc.) to ensure alignment, strategic communication, and maximum program adoption.
  • Monitor budgets, schedules, engagement metrics, and program outcomes to ensure initiatives are delivered efficiently and effectively.
  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for Canvas’s financial education partnerships across K-12 schools, school districts, universities, and community organizations — including all nine high schools within the Douglas County School District and Canvas university partners.
  • Oversee financial education initiatives supporting students, educators, administrators, university staff, and student-athletes through engaging and impactful programming.
  • Provide financial wellness resources, curriculum-aligned materials, and presentation content that support Colorado graduation requirements and partner objectives.
  • Collaborate with educators, counselors, district leaders, athletic departments, student affairs teams, and university administrators to ensure programs align with curriculum goals and student development priorities.
  • Support sponsorship activations and partnership opportunities that strengthen Canvas’s visibility, engagement, and impact across partner organizations.
  • Identify opportunities to deepen relationships and expand Canvas’s financial education presence across partner schools, universities, and communities.
  • Oversee the strategy, governance, and content direction for Canvas’s financial education programming across schools, universities, and community settings.
  • Partner closely with the Community Involvement team, which leads the direct facilitation and delivery of in-person financial education programming and initiatives such as My Future Money Life.
  • Ensure all programming aligns with Colorado state graduation requirements, learning objectives, and Canvas’s broader financial education strategy.
  • Guide and support financial education workshops, seminars, and special events delivered by staff, volunteers, or partner organizations.
  • Continuously evaluate program effectiveness and implement enhancements based on participation data, feedback, and best practices.
  • Define and track key performance indicators for all financial education programs and partnerships, reporting outcomes to leadership.
  • Assess program performance relative to state and national standards, ensuring continued compliance and alignment with best practices.
  • Analyze participation data, engagement trends, and partner feedback to improve program effectiveness and scalability.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation in digital delivery, curriculum integration, and community engagement.
  • Serve as Canvas Credit Union’s financial education ambassador, building strong relationships with educators, administrators, university leaders, and community stakeholders.
  • Represent Canvas at school district meetings, community events, university functions, and other relevant forums to advocate for financial literacy and financial wellness.
