The Financial Data Scientist provides advanced financial and analytical support through mathematical and statistical modeling, forecasting, and data-driven insights. This role leverages strong mathematical, statistical, and programming skills to analyze historical company performance as well as model and forecast future results.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, computer science, engineering or applied mathematics, or equivalent work experience
Six to eight years of relevant experience

Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, etc.)
Experience with time series analysis and forecasting techniques
Advanced Excel skills
Familiarity with version control and reproducible coding and analytics workflows
Experience in credit card payment processing
Strong analytic skills with the ability to extract, collect, organize, analyze and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
Experience in analytics, advanced analytics/statistics, predictive modeling, machine learning, data visualization
Understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms
Experience in python/R/SAS/SQL for data extraction, data mining, and predictive analytics
Demonstrated project management skills
Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and enhance financial models, including forecasting, scenario analysis, and sensitivity analysis
Apply time series modeling techniques to support revenue, expense, pricing, and volume forecasting
Analyze large and complex datasets using SQL and Python to identify trends, risks, and performance drivers
Design, automate, and maintain repeatable analytics and reporting solutions
Partner with finance leadership and business stakeholders to translate analytical results into actionable insights
Support budgeting, planning, and performance management processes with rigorous quantitative analysis
Validate data accuracy and resolve data quality issues across multiple financial and operational systems
Prepare clear, concise management presentations and written summaries explaining assumptions, methodology, and results
