About The Position

The Financial Crimes Compliance Operations Analyst would be responsible for conducting extensive, complex investigations to identify potentially suspicious financial and/or fraudulent activity, to include money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud and/or any other financial risk or crime. The Investigator will make recommendations to the AML Financial Intelligence Unit Manager regarding suspicious activity and will be responsible for preparing Suspicious Activity Reports (“SAR”) in compliance with established regulatory guidelines and time frames.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the laws applicable to money laundering, to include the BSA, The Patriot Act, U.S. Treasury AML guidelines, OFAC requirements and Suspicious Activity Reporting requirements.
  • Understanding of banking and financial services, including an understanding of the various types of products, services, and transactions that are typical for the Branch.
  • Analytical/Investigative skills to determine unusual or possible suspicious activity regarding transaction or account activities.
  • Advanced knowledge of global AML, anti-bribery and corruption (ABC), sanctions, and financial crime regulations, regimes, typologies, and frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of transaction monitoring systems, alerting tools, and case management platforms.
  • Expertise in forensic analysis.
  • Strong ability to understand regulatory guidance and internal policy documents.
  • Specialized knowledge of know your customer (KYC), suspicious activity reporting (SAR), and investigative techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of industry standard KYC practices (customer identification program (CIP), customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), etc.).
  • Advanced knowledge of financial crimes typologies.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and identify suspicious activity.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to financial crime compliance, due diligence, investigations, or regulatory roles a plus.
  • Experience with compliance tools and systems (e.g., Actimize, World Check, LexisNexis) is a plus.
  • Relevant financial crime or anti-money laundering (AML) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct extensive, complex investigations to identify potentially suspicious financial and/or fraudulent activity, to include money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud and/or any other financial risk or crime.
  • Make recommendations to the AML Financial Intelligence Unit Manager regarding suspicious activity.
  • Prepare Suspicious Activity Reports (“SAR”) in compliance with established regulatory guidelines and time frames.
  • Review and research suspect items and/or transactions and report suspicious activity as required.
  • Communicate with AML Compliance Manager any activity and trends that could implicate potential money laundering or terrorist financing.
  • Perform routine compliance tasks and deal with routine compliance issues, typically concerning documentation, reporting, etc.
  • Assist in monitoring regulatory issues.
  • Follow established guidelines and procedures.
  • Stay apprised of regulatory matters and developments through regular review of appropriate compliance publications and websites and by participating in relevant compliance conferences and other training events.
  • Apply knowledge of company policies and standard practices to resolve problems.
  • Analyze issues and use judgment to make decisions.
  • Escalate non-standard problems or issues.
