This job assumes responsibility for providing overall support to the hospital and clinic facilities as well as other departments within Ochsner Health System; ensures the financial security of accounts for Ochsner patients; assumes responsibility for advising a patient of their financial responsibility as it pertains to self pay patients; assumes responsibility for ensuring the financial security of Ochsner patient accounts by carrying out one of the following functions: interviewing self pay patient referrals, completing and submitting the Medicaid application, updating the various systems with the status of the case, following up with the patient or the state on the status of the case, and follow up on the billing status of the case; directly supports the business office by assisting with the reduction of bad debt; ensures that updates to accounts are accurate and completed in a timely manner; exhibits knowledge of Invision and Signature systems; makes a positive patient and physician experience the top priority; and assumes responsibility for increasing patient satisfaction by consistently representing Ochsner Health System professionally and according to the job duties. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years related experience in hospital, clinic, business services/revenue cycle, front line registration, financial counseling, banking, hotel, retail and/or customer service related position
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts interview/screening of all self pay patients for state/governmental programs
  • Exhibits expertise in assigning proper financial classes/status utilizing the Invision, Signature, EPIC and all other systems
  • Exhibits effective judgment and decision making
  • Utilizes resources to ensure knowledge is current on any changes to applicable governmental programs
  • Adapts to change in a positive, constructive manner
  • Exhibits skills to assume other responsibility, as assigned
