About The Position
Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital (LBHH) is a 126-bed, inpatient psychiatric hospital joint venture between Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine and Universal Health Services. In addition to a general adult unit and dedicated adolescent unit, the facility offers services for treating those with co-occurring disorders on the psychiatric-medical unit, an intensive adult unit to care for those with severe conditions, as well as a women’s trauma unit. The Financial Counselor is responsible for verifying insurances and financial counseling for self-pay accounts.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Responsibilities
- Verify insurance benefits for all admissions & calculate patient financial obligation: IP, PHP, IOP.
- Meet with patient and/or family to discuss their financial obligation.
- Follow up on self-pay accounts (after insurance).
- Obtain patient deductibles/coinsurances and/or copays and enter into the billing system.
- Research account issues and problems, answers billing inquiries, and attempts or assists with dispute resolution.
- Works in conjunction with the billing staff to ensure clean billing.
- Handle paper mail and answer internal emails.
- Maintains patient demographic information.
- Verify authorizations if needed.
