About The Position

Join our team at Smokey Point Behavioral Hospital as a Financial Counselor! In this role, you will be responsible for verifying benefits and eligibility for admission inquiries, preparing admission folders, collecting co-pays and deductibles from patients, establishing effective payment plans, coordinating with utilization review and discharge planning to mitigate non-payment risks, providing ongoing patient benefit information, participating in patient discharge procedures, and coordinating financial arrangements with collection personnel. This is a full-time position with a monthly bonus opportunity.

Requirements

High School graduate or equivalent required.
A minimum of one (1) years’ experience in admission processes and collections procedures.
Working knowledge of managed care.
Working knowledge of interpretation of insurance coverage plans, co-payments and deductible schedules and payment plans.
Working knowledge of computers and business software programs (Excel) preferred.

Responsibilities

Accurately verify benefits and eligibility on admission inquiries.
Prepare admission folders.
Collect co-pays and deductibles from patients.
Assist with establishing effective and timely payment plans.
Coordinate with utilization review and discharge planning efforts to limit risk of non-payment.
Provide ongoing patient benefit information.
Participate in patient discharge procedures.
Coordinate financial arrangements with collection personnel.
