The Financial Counselor is responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating daily financial reconciliation procedures to ensure proper patient financial services, collection of payments and input into process improvement. This role involves providing administrative services such as collecting and posting payments, performing patient financial counseling, establishing patient payment plans, preparing daily statements, and monitoring payment plan agreements. The position also requires posting and reconciling daily patient payments, utilizing practice management and EMR systems, and coordinating patient care including scheduling and check-in/check-out. Additionally, the Financial Counselor will provide receptionist services and is responsible for insurance verification and eligibility, managing prior authorization processes, collaborating with other departments for authorizations and appeals, and determining patient financial responsibility. This includes researching and verifying patient demographic information and assisting with patient communication regarding coverage denials or pre-determinations.
