About The Position

The Financial Counselor is responsible for maintaining communication with patients, facilities, insurance companies, and physicians on the patient liability prior to surgical procedures. This role involves managing patient out-of-pocket costs, including self-pay fees, deductibles, and co-insurance, and ensuring timely processing of financial information. The position also requires maintaining accurate patient demographic and insurance information and exemplifying the organization's culture and philosophies.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED minimum education requirement
  • Experience working with and interpreting medical insurance and benefits required
  • One year minimum healthcare or related experience required
  • Computer skills including, but not limited to, MS Office Suite

Responsibilities

  • Maintain communication with patients regarding out-of-pocket costs, self-pay fees, deductibles, and co-insurance for surgeries.
  • Maintain communication with insurance companies regarding patient costs for surgeries.
  • Sustain open communication with physicians on the status of patient surgeries.
  • Correct and update patient demographic information.
  • Correct and update patient insurance information.
  • Sign off, retrieve, work SRS, and email messages daily regarding deductible and self-pay patients.
  • Complete self-pay patient processes upon receipt.
  • Complete deductible patients' processes at least two weeks in advance of the procedure.
  • Exemplify the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
