The Financial Counselor interacts with patients, guests, physicians, and other members of a multi-disciplinary clinical team to create an exceptional patient experience. This role is responsible for supporting patients with completing financial assistance applications, handling collections of payments on account, and educating and assisting patients with enrolling into health benefit plans or related insurance issues. The position also performs administrative duties with patient registration operations in a designated outpatient clinic setting.

Requirements

  • All employees [temporary employees and contractors] who will interact with the public and/or co-workers, regardless of clinical responsibility or patient contact, must have started their primary vaccination series against COVID-19 or received a sincerely held religious belief or medical exemption.
  • Newly hired employees are required to have received their first vaccination dose prior to their start date of employment and completed primary series as outlined in FDA’s prescribing instruction for vaccine administration.
  • New hires must also receive their booster within 30 days after the date that they are eligible to receive it, per CDC guidelines.
  • Anyone with an approved exemption must have weekly PCR COVID-19 testing on their own time and submit the results every Monday, before arriving at work.

Responsibilities

  • Works with patients to provide financial assistance or secure payment on account.
  • Facilitates processing and provides support to patients with financial assistance applications.
  • Educate and conduct enrollment assistance with patients for eligible health insurance plans.
  • Assist patients with completing Ryan White Client Eligibility requirements.
  • Support check-in and check-out processes for patients and scheduling appointments.
  • Confirm patient demographics, insurance information, prior authorization and physician referrals.
  • Aid patients with obtaining State assistance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
