About The Position

The Financial Counselor is responsible for managing self-pay account collections for hospital patient accounts and providing financial counseling assistance. This includes supporting patients with Medicaid referrals, county assistance programs, and charity care applications.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of healthcare billing, collections, or financial counseling preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage and collect self-pay hospital patient accounts in a professional and timely manner
  • Provide financial counseling to patients regarding payment options and available assistance programs
  • Assist patients with applications for Medicaid, county programs, and charity care
  • Educate patients on financial responsibilities and hospital billing procedures
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all patient interactions and financial arrangements
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure proper account resolution
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable healthcare regulations and privacy laws
